well yeah, i’m back. that last quote has me thinking about how i think about love. this is what i believe:
there is only one love, just as there’s truly only one race. which is the human race. black, white, puerto rican, etc…none of those categories matter. we’re all people, and though we may look and live differently, we’re all created by the same God. we’re all put on the earth to worship and glorify Him, though there are people who don’t and others that won’t, but that is beside the point. we’re one body of people. God is love, and love is all of the good stuff. love is showing compassion for one another, being kind, forgiving, enduring and persevering through the bad, etc. whether you’re loving your mother, father, brother, significant other, or friend… i believe that you love them all with the same love. one love. the only difference being that there are different emotions attached to each individual relationship. and being as though love isn’t an emotion- it’s something you are and do. the different feelings and emotions is what separates and categorizes those relationships.. for instance, the way you love your parents, friends, and family differs from your lover because of eros (the sexual attraction and desire to be with that person.) it’s not that the level of intimacy is greater, because it’s not. you can be intimate without being sexual or physical, and intimacy is the basis of all real friendships. getting to know a person, sharing secrets.. just being able to trust a person, going beyond the surface and knowing them on a private and personal level. that’s emotional intimacy. the type of intimacy that most ‘normal’ people have shared with their parents since birth, and their closest of kin from childhood into adulthood. there are people that connect physically that never reach the emotional intimacy, which is also beside the point, but is just something i thought that i should mention.
love isn’t wanting to be around a person 24/7, and wanting to talk to them non-stop, and never arguing.. because if you think about it, the people that you’re most close to and love the most, are sometimes the people that annoy you the most as well. it doesn’t mean that you don’t love them, but that’s just how us humans are. we get fed up with people, irritated, angry at them and so on.. why? because of the flesh (sinful, human nature). there is only one that loves unconditionally, God, and that’s why we must try to love like Him. His love is perfect, simply because He is perfect. He’s compassionate, kind, understanding, has A LOT of patience, is forgiving, trustworthy, not easily angered, protects us, and is not self-seeking. He loves because of who He is, not because of who we are.. despite all of the wrong we have done. He doesn’t love to be loved, He loves because He IS love.. He loves every single one of us (even those who don’t love Him) equally. and we’re supposed to love EVERY1 that way, not just a mother, friend, or boyfriend. but that’s it, one love.
it’s past 4am and i haven’t been to sleep yet. i’m up all of the time and i rarely sleep, but no one asked me this. i suppose that whatever mood this finds you in will have you determine whether or not this was written late at night, or early in the morning. i read my introduction type thing and decided not to change it, although it’s out-dated. i’m currently on ice though.
i’ll forget the world that i knew, but i promise i won’t forget you.

that’s why i’ve decided to stick with love. God is love, and love conquers all things.
